Afghanistan? Worth It?

So far we have lost.
1000 Troops lost plus I'm sure many more wounded(if someone has a number post it)
We have spent 345 billion dollars
Spending 100 million dollars per day.
The Taliban is not receding to much.
We have seem to defeated Al Qaeda there.

I don't know, but I know that $345 million will help a whole lot of inner-city school systems.

345 Billion and with the state of our school system overall it could help every system from the richest to the poorest. Remember we aren't producing people that can work in many fields.

We sure aren't. I still go on both my colleges websites and look at the list of current graduate students doing research. You find one American for every 10 foreigners.

Very true but I am looking at things like facilities, books, supplies and teacher salaries. We all know that students learning is a combination of many factors, some financial and some not (home support, etc)...still there are some of those factors that are financial-dependent.

Re: Afghanistan? Worth It?

Expand into where ever we need to. This is why the terrorist win, Americans dont have the stomach or patience for war with an enemy bent on attacking us. Alot of put Iraq and afghanistan in the same context but they shouldnt. Bush abandoned Afghan far too early now we're having to play catch up. There is a cost for security, security aint free. Having the most powerful military in the world and being afraid to deploy it in our defence is like having a ferrari testarossa that sits in the garage because you are scared to drive it in public, imagine mike tyson spending a lifetime training but never having the courage to step into the ring because he's scared to get a bloody nose. This shouldnt even be a question.
