Re: Snake kills child in Florida
No problem owning a pet snake, dog, cat. With any pet when you bring a small child or child in general into the equation? There comes a responsibility and irresponsible pet owners will get bit so to speak. Unfortunately that is what happened. There is no way your snake should be able to escape its cage. Your responsibility is to make sure its secure for you, your family and company. Its pet owner 101. Should be basic. But I'm sure the snake owner was too lax with how it was secured.
Tragic story man.

Re: Snake kills child in Florida
I see what LSG is saying. I'm afraid of snakes but thier purpose really is limited to why one would own them.

Re: Snake kills child in Florida
I owned a 10 foot burmese python but he was never around my children. My snake was small compared to most. I stunted his growth on purpose because i didnt want him to get too big for me to handle. I think the entire time i had him he got out of his cage once but he never left the area. That dude must not have been feeding his snake. All he needed to do was feed him once a week.

Re: Snake kills child in Florida
It's double my height....
I'd run as fast as these little stumps would carry me if I saw a 10 foot snake...

wow 7 years and he is only 4 ft he is stunted. males tend only 12-13 ft and females can get upwards 18 ft. Those are the one you really need to watch. My snake wrap my neck up pretty good ONCE and that was only cause he was keeping his balance. This guy had to not be feeding his snake for it to go after a child.
@TyneeTee chances are you wouldnt see him. unless he hissed to warn you off.

Re: Snake kills child in Florida
You have nothing to worry about my dear. Poor Adonis went to the land of his fathers in 2003. I had thought about getting another but Ill stick with fish for the time being.
Oh and if folk know you have a 10 foot plus snake slinking around your home, no one will enter unnanounced.
