I think eventually, thanks to the internet, the magazine format is going to face the same fate as the newspaper.

Russell Simmons explained it better than I can. But things such as claiming Madonna was hip hop was one of them.

emil wilbekin was a great editor...things started going down hill when wilbekin's mentee...mimi valdez....she was good...but I think she lacked the clout and leadership that came with the role...she is a really good hip hop writer/journalist...as a result she resigned...

I wouldn't blame her...remember the horrendous mary j. blige cover, gwen stefani and pharell on the cover, bow wow and ciara, bobby brown...
it started becoming a tabloid mag...if you look at the mag back in the day...they were creative..the gave a voice to undergound cats...one of my favorites was the dream team cover...

the nail in the coffin was danyel smith taking over...
all the downsizing that was done did not take into account what the bad decisions that had been going down for years..

so you are disagreeing with me supporting someone elses statement about the magazine having a gay slant? I never attributed any of the downfall to that fact. I was just supporting the idea that it had a gay slant because it had a gay editor.
